LEICESTER: The first One Day International ( 1st ODI ) between England Women and Pakistan women has been called off due to rain at Grace Road, Leicester.
The match was scheduled to begin at 14:00 local time/ 18:00 PST and 13:00 GMT. However, due to heavy rain in the city, not a single ball could be bowled and match was called off due to wet outfield.
Match officials took three inspections of the field, first at 2 pm, then at 3:30 pm and finaly at 5 pm according to local time.
It is a three-match series with the next two games scheduled to be played on June 22 and 27 respectively. The venues are Worcester and Taunton respectively. England Women will be led by Amy Jones whereas Sana Mir will call the shots for Pakistan Women.
After this OI series, the two teams will face each other in a three-match T20 series. The T20 matches are tabled to be played on July 3, 5 and 7 respectively. The venues are Bristol, Southampton and Chelmsford.
