LAHORE: Preparing for his Test comeback after six years of cricketing exile, Pakistan premier fast bowler Mohammad Amir has stated that match-fixers should be banned for life.
Mohammad Amir was sentenced nine month imprisonment in England and 5 years of international cricket ban from ICC after he, along with two other Pakistan players, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt, was caught in spot-fixing scandal at Lords.
The fast bowler backed comments from England captain Alastair Cook, who said anyone caught match-fixing should be banned from cricket for good.
“If fixing is still happening then it’s really alarming,” Amir said in an interview before his departure for the four-Test tour of England. “I fully back that fixers should be banned for life.”
The real test for the 24-year-old left-arm pacer would be when he faces fans at Lords Cricket Stadium, where he was caught bowling no-balls to order in a sting operation carried out by a tabloid newspaper.
