Court remands Khalid Lango in NAB custody

QUETTA: An accountability court has granted 14-day remand to former Balochistan advisor Khalid Lango and handed him over to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), ARY News reported.

The former advisor was brought to the court under strict security. Lango was arrested yesterday from the premises of the court after his interim bail application was rejected by the Balochistan High Court.

His lawyers Farooq Naek and Baaz Muhammad Kakar while pleaded for extension in interim bail said  that his client was subject to political victimization and the NAB was being used as tool for it.

Lango had resigned after the arrest of former finance secretary Mushtaq Raisani by NAB who discovered a massive trove of 630 million rupees from his home.

A complete shutter down strike was observed in Kalat and Mangochar in Balochistan over the arrest of Khalid Lango by the National Accountability Bureau.

The protestors blocked the main highway to Kalat and set tyres to fire which severely disrupted traffic on both sides and passengers including women and children were stranded for several hours. They raised slogans against the provincial government and NAB officials.

The Karachi-Quetta highway was blocked for more than seven hours for all types of traffic.

Later, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kalat Naseer Ahmed Jatak and Assistant Commissioner Mangochar Abdullah Khoso negotiated with the members of the National Party which included Babu Ramzan Lango, Abdul Majeed, Muhammad Shahi , and Javed Iqbal.

They demanded that Khalid Lango be released immediately or otherwise they would block the highway again for an indefinite period.
