LAHORE: Former Pakistan bowling coach Aqib Javed is likely to join Bangladesh for the similar post soon, TheNewsTribe.com learnt from Bangladeshi media reports.
According to reports, Bangladesh Cricket Baord (BCB) is considering to replace Aqib Javed with Heath Streak as Bangladesh bowling coach.
Streak, who has done a wonderful job with BCB so far, is now interested to join Indian National Academy and he has also applied for the job.
The ball is in Streak’s court as the BCB Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan has made it open that the Zimbabwean can leave if he desires to.
“We always want a settled unit for our coaching staff, so we actually wanted Streak to stay. But if he wants to leave, we will not try to hold him back. The outcome of forcing someone to stay is never good. Rather we will try to bring someone even better,” Akram told bdnews24.com.
“For now, our list of choices includes Champaka, Aaqib Javed, Vaas, Prasad and 2-3 others. We believe bringing any one of them will be great.”
Aqib, who recently stepped down as UAE head coach, was strong candidate for Pakistan coaching but he decided not to apply for the post. He has joined PSL franchise Lahore Qalandars as bowling consultant.
