Energy shortfall reaches 3,000 MW in country

ISLAMABAD: Federal Ministry for Water and Power has stated that the energy shorfall in the country has currently reached up to of 3,000 megawatt.

The ministry stated that 15,000 megawatt of electricity is being produced in the country while there is a demand of 18,000 megawatt.

It was also stated that eight hours of loadshedding is being carried out in rural areas whereas six hours of power outages is taking place in the urban areas.

However, the areas having power theft and non-payment of bills facing longer hours of power outages.

The federal government has repeatedly made claims of ending the decades long power crisis in the country but no significant achievements have been made in this regard so far.
