NAB detain director foreign affairs in graft charges

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Director Foreign Affairs Shafqat Ali Cheema over corruption charges on Tuesday, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

According to details, NAB raided Foreign Ministry office and seized all documents and records related to Shafqat who had been appointed as in-charge Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives desk.

Shafqat was arrested for making money more than his income and owning unnamed assets as millions of rupees have been found in his account including plots of same worth.

The officer was accused for stealing and selling 200 blue passports issued on official basis. The suspect would be presented before NAB court where authorities would acquire permission for physical remand to reveal further confessions.
