Though it is a bit disappointment for us Pakistanis, but Dhoni has been ranked as world’s most popular cricketer. He is the only cricketer in world’s 20 most popular player.
This ranking has been published by ESPN, The Magazine in which footballers are dominant.
The magazine has determined the popularity of players on the basis of their income from inside and outside ground, social media popularity, and through google search.
Top place of the ranking has been seized by footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo. The second rank goes to American basketballer, LeBron Raymone James while on third came the Argentine’s Lionel Messi.
Neymar Junior of Brazil is on 4th while Roger Federer took the 5th place. Only one cricket could scrape a place in this ranking, who is Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni standing at 13th position.
There were several speculations circulating regarding Dhoni getting retired and questions were also being asked from him regarding when would he take retirement but it seems that this is not the right time for him as he is on boom.
It is pertinent to emntion here that Dhoni holds numerous captaincy records such as most wins by an Indian captain in Tests and ODIs, and most back-to-back wins by an Indian captain in ODIs.
