ISLAMABAD: Balloting of Hajj applications under government scheme has been completed today (Thursday), successful applicants will be informed via SMS, TheNewsTribe.com reported.
Minister of Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf in a media presser stated that government received 2,80,617 applications, from which 69,533 lucky people will perform Hajj this year under government scheme.
He further said that those who were not picked during balloting, may refund their payments from concerned branches.
The balloting was postponed in view of a writ petition filed by the private Hajj organizers in the Supreme Court challenging the Hajj quota.
Earlier, Minister of Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, in a statement, said that the step was taken in view of a writ petition filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Hajj policy of 2016.
He said the balloting was suspended to ensure transparency and beyond any suspicions and doubts.
