History in Making: Pakistan Railway changed porters’ uniform after 150years

LAHORE: Pakistan Railway (PR) on Wednesday changed the history as state owned department has ordered to change luggage handlers’ century old uniform, thenewstribe.io reported.

According to TheNewsTribe’s (TNT) correspondent from Lahore, the capital city of Punjab, Luggage handlers (Coolies or KULLIs) 150 plus years old red colour uniform has been changed to the green and yellow coloured new dress.

Railway Ministry confirmed the news as official said the new uniform will be green with yellow collar and cuff.

It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan Railway (PR) is among the oldest state owned institutions in the country, which is the second biggest assets holder in Pakistan after armed forces.

The old red uniform introduced for luggage handlers’ in 1860 during the British era.

PR implemented the new role across the country as new uniform can be seen on Pakistani railway stations.
