LAHORE: National Chief Selector Inzimam ul Haq while announcing 35 names for the fitness camp before England tour explained why he did not pick his own nephew Inam ul Haq despite his good performance.
In response to a question from a media person, Inzimam retreated that he has seen Inam’s list A and First Class record of previous season, and he was not picked for not having enough runs in First Class cricket.
“There is no any pressure on me from board or anyone else, I just want to select my team on merit, if he [Inam] carries on to perform, he may get picked for next tours,” said Inzimam.
While, talking about Salman Butt, Inziamam was of the opinion that Salman Butt, after his comeback has only played two one-day tournaments, he is yet to prove his worth in four-day matches.
“We needed a solid batsmen like Salman, but for a longer format as we have to play four Test matches in England, and he has not yet played any four-day match after his comeback, we have therefore decided to give more time and play longer format of cricket.”
