After winning the toss, Islamabad chose to bat first.
Despite losing Sharjil early on 39, stand-in captain Kamran Akmal along with young Inam ul Haq added 197 runs for the second wicket partnership.
Kamran Akmla cashed in the chance he was provided in the absence of Misbah ul Haq and went on to score his firts hundred of the tournament, scoring 134 off 102 balls. Inam ul Haq also completed his ton, he made 102 runs of 124 balls. No other batsman could really contribute to the total, other than Raza Ali Dar who made 26 off 22 to take the score to 315/8.
Bilawal Bhatti took 3 wickets for 57 runs in his 10 quota.
