Five foods for Diabetes diet

Diabetes is one of the most common and largely expanding disease in world especially Pakistan. Diabetic patients have very limited choice in regards for food. Furthermore, diabetics have weak immunity due to which they are more prone to diseases. Here are the foods that must be included in their diet,

Citrus Fruits

Lemons, oranges, peaches, these are the right food items for you. These are amazing for diabetes. If they are consumed in original form, they provide adequate fiber as well. Vitamin C is abundant in citrus fruits which enhances the body’s ability to heal. It also prevents bruising and bleeding of the gums.

Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are best alternative to potatoes in your diet if you are diabetic. It lowers the insulin resistance in the body which in turn lowers the blood-sugar levels. They also reduce the bad cholesterol from the blood as well.

Beans

Both kidney and black eyed or any other kind is great for your health. Include them in your soups, salads and in curry. Beans are high in fiber, magnesium and potassium. These are the food recommended by nutritionists for those who want to shed some pounds or gain muscle. Furthermore, if you buy canned beans rinse them as much as you can in order to shun the sodium away which would increase blood pressure otherwise.

Sea food

Add fish or other sea food item in your diet at least twice a week. This is very important as sea food is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which balances your body hormones and metabolism. Both are extremely important in diabetes.

Turmeric

Haldi is a sort of key ingredient in our households. It is antiseptic as everybody knows. Not only this but it also helps cure the inflammation associated with type 2 diabetes.
