ICC takes random dope test of six cricketeras

FAISALABAD: On the directives of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) conducted doping tests of six Pakistani cricketers playing Pakistan Cup, here on Wednesday.

The cricket officials conducted doping tests of six cricketers Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Sami, Khurram Manzoor, Sami Aslam, Bilawal Bhatti and Mohammad Hassan.

“Two players will be tested after every Pakistan Cup fixture,” said the official.

Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah, in February, was provisionally suspended by the ICC after he failed dope tests conducted by the ICC in December last year after Pakistan ‘hosted England for a full tour in UAE.

His three-month-long suspension ended on March 27.

The PCB has introduced a revamped domestic one-day tournament, called the Pakistan Cup has replaced the Pentangular Cup. The tournament being played between five teams since April 19 in Faisalabad.

The teams representing, Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan provinces and federal capital Islamabad contesting in Pakistan Cup.

In tournament the process of picking players has been altered replacing the traditional selection process with a draft system.
