PESHAWAR: Alleged murderer of Dr Sardar Soran Singh, Baldev Kumar has been declared eligible to sit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly until conviction in Soran Singh’s murder.
Being the only representative of minorities after Soran Singh, Baldev Kumar will automatically be eligible to sit in the KPK assembly unless he is convicted in the murder case.
Former Information minister of KPK, Mushtaq Ghani has expressed displeasure over the issue saying that ‘assembly is sad over murderer’s entrance.’
Baldev Kumar, a Swat district councilor and minority leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested by the law enforcement agencies for his alleged role in the murder of Dr Sardar Sooran Singh, also of the same party.
Dr Singh was a TV anchor and politician. Before joining PTI in 2011, Dr Singh was a member of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan for nine years.
He was also member of Tehsil council, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and Evacuee Trust Property Board.
