PARIS- American secretary of state, John Kerry surprised the world when he signed the Climate Deal with his granddaughter sitting in his lap.
It was a message to public to remember its duty to protect the health of future generations.
Around 150 nations were there to sign the deal, a historic achievement based on previous accord set in Paris that seeks to limit the Earth’s temperature to 1.5 or 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
Kerry lifted his granddaughter on his lap in front of the leaders from whole world, kissed her on cheek after signing the deal on behalf of United States. His granddaughter, Isabelle Dobbs-Higginson, is the only child of Kerry’s eldest daughter Alexandria Kerry.
It is pertinent to mention here that the deal marks the world’s greatest polluters including US, Europe, China and India who all have assented to set specific, verifiable goals to reduce carbon emissions and dependency on fossil fuels.
