LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly decided to appoint former bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed as interim head coach of Pakistan cricket team for England tour in July-August.
According to Saama News report, PCB has finalized Mushtaq Ahmad as a temporary coach for Pakistan team. He will work at this position until PCB appoints new head coach.
The position remained vacant after former coach Waqar Younis resigned from this position when Pakistan team faced back-to-back defeats in Asia and World T20 Championship.
Pakistan team is to visit England at the end of June this year.
PCB has preferred Mushtaq for this responsibility because he has good understanding of England’s conditions as he also worked as England’s spin bowling coach before joining team Pakistan.
Mushtaq is currently serving PCB as National Cricket Academy head coach. He is also given an additional charge of selection committee coordinator.
