NEW YORK-Facebook originally started as platform for people to share important moments from their lives, like getting married or baby photos. But now the social media site is seeing a changed behavior and having people sharing few personal posts.
It does not imply that overall sharing on Facebook is down, rather it indicates that more than 1 billion on the site have changed their behavior in terms of sharing on Facebook. They are now sharing videos and web links more than the personal moments.
This decline in personal sharing has occurred at the time when messaging apps like Snapchat and Facebook-owned WhatsApp have taken off.
According to international media, Facebook has recently formed a team to try to alleviate the decline in sharing with features like “On This Day”, which reposts content you shared on Facebook in years past.
It has also changed its News Feed algorithm to prioritize what people share from their own profiles.
