LAHORE: Former Chief Selector Pakistan cricket team Haroon Rasheed has declared that conflict of opinion between head coach Waqar Younis and Captain Shahid Afridi was sole reason for controversies in the team.
During an interview with local TV channel, Haroon Rasheed stated “Coach and captain were never on same page, and this was the sole reason behind controversies.”
“Whatever Waqar said in meeting, he would say complete opposite thing in the media,” revealed Rasheed.
Former Chief Selector went on to disclose that Waqar Younis wanted Salman Butt in WT20 squad, but his decision was vetoed after selectors and captain’s strong opposition.
Haroon went on to thrash Waqar and blamed him for bringing ‘favourite players’ in the team.
“He was always there interfering selection committee’s matters; I can give you ten names that were selected on Waqar’s recommendation,” told Haroon during interview.
