NAB Officer uses power to assault, harasses Saloon owner

KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officer Osaf Mir Talpur used power position to send NAB personnel in Police vehicle to raid a saloon without warrant who assaulted employees, harassed women employees, owner and innocent people in the saloon.

Haya Ali has been running the a saloon for women, Envy by Shagufta Ejaz in Gulistan e Jauhar area of Karachi. Upon reaching the location NAB officer started beating the security guard at the gate without any warrant or complaint against him. They went on to beat a 14 year old boy also without any legitimate reason. They then broke into the saloon only for women in order to “search” and went room to room, according to Haya Ali.

Saloon owner Haya Ali and Talpur’s wife Hina Khan had a dispute over a lost chain that Hina claimed to have forgotten at the saloon. Saloon owner has put up a sign that “owners are responsible for belongings” however she helped the lady to find her lost chain. Talpur’s wife Hina Khan abused the saloon staff and the owner Hina Khan and threatened severe action with Police. Haya Ali is famous actress Shagufta Ejaz’s daughter.

NAB officer can be seen in the video harassing actress Shagufta Ejaz in the Police Station whereas Mir Osaf Ali Talpur and his wife can also be seen in the video. Hina Khan accused Haya Ali of assault, after she assaulted Haya at her saloon.

Saloon owner Haya Ali had already helped Hina Khan search every corner of the saloon who sat in the saloon without any demands trying to charge on the employees. Haya Ali in a statement also accused her of assault that she recorded on CCTV footage.

Haya also posses the CCTV footage of the saloon for women where the alleged police personnel are charging in without warrant and knocking down doors where women are present in not so presentable condition given that the saloon is only for women.

Haya Ali lodged an F.I.R against her client Hina Khan but was later forced to settle the matter in the police station after Police officers informed that both parties would be held overnight if they decide to pursue the matter. Talking to The News Tribe.com representative Haya Ali stated that, “We tried to pursue the matter in a legal manner, I am shocked and saddened at this abuse of power and have increased security at my establishment.”

One black sheep can end a cause and at this point when NAB is involved in several high profile cases and investigation such abuse of power raises a question on the whole organization.
