5 things Islam allows but our “Islamic” society doesn’t

Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a essentially an Islamic society but have you ever noticed these practices that Islam allows but our society doesn’t?

Live in Husbands (Ghar Damaadi!)

Well yes, this is basic Islamic history that our beloved Prophet (PBUH) left his uncle’s house to live with his first wife Hazrat Khadija (R.A) but in today’s Islamic Republic of Pakistan our Islamic society has made it an absolute No No! Even the thought of is deemed honor less (beghairat) to begin with and invites heaps load of ridicule to the man. I wonder what our Uluma so keenly protesting about Blasphemy would say about this?

Beating a Wife – Honor Killing (Karo Kari, Gherat!)
After ogling women for hours and hit the market on every occasion for some “Poondi” with the hopes of a love story in their head our men find it extremely hard to digest if a love story takes root involving the women in their houses. Hadith forbids beating your wives for one thing and Islam forbade honor killings with its arrival in the 1400s. Islam does allow you to beat your wife but with a feather!

Women’s right to choose companion

Yup, Islam gave women the right to choose a companion and the right to divorce if her husband is not just, kind and loving enough? Wrong! She has the right to get out of a marriage if the marriage was without her consent in the first place even if the husband is fulfilling his duties. Although Divorce is a highly undesired act in Islam, it would have been “Haram” if it had not been an absolutely necessary clause in marriage law.

Women’s right to GOOD education

Yes, the spirit of “Go to china for education” (which by the way is not a hadith in the first place) is not limited to men, your daughter, wife (given the rate of early marriages in Pakistan) and even your mother (age doesn’t bound you from learning now does it?) has an equal right on Good education just as much as you, your brother, son or father. Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) was among the best scholars of her time and different companions of Prophet (PBUH) visiting her to learn or ask questions is recorded history.

Right to Question your Preacher (Moulvi)

Well our Uluma are respectable for us and there is no doubt about it but the best of Uluma deemed Imams such as Abu Hanifa, Ahmed bin Humbul and Malik all at stated – at one point or another – that if a fatwa they made, a book they wrote or any of their statements is found to be against Islam i.e Quran and Sunnah their word should be discarded. They went so far as to pray with each other and well we all know how things are today.
