World T20 is over but the fervor has not ended yet. It seems that the world has joined the celebrations with West Indies. But this T20 was probably the last one for certain cricket players.
Here are a few players who will not be playing cricket in the next world T20,
Mahendra Singh Dhoni
The Indian skipper could not make it to the title clash, but a semifinal finish was a good performance. He turns 35 this year so it will be a test of time to see if he is around in 2020.
Shahid Afridi
The former Pakistan T20 captain is 36 and while he has not called time on his career, the chances of him playing at 40 are virtually nil.
Chris Gayle
The big-hitting opener from the West Indies will complete his 36th year in 2016. So will he still be entertaining crowds four years from now? Only time will tell.
Shoaib Malik
The Pakistani all-rounder is struggling to find a regular place in the team and he is not getting younger either. Current circumstances don’t give him much scope of playing in 2020.
Marlon Samuels
At 35, age may just be a number for him. But time takes a toll on the body and that may just prevent a World T20 participation.
Darren Sammy
The Windies skipper will turn 33 late this year. In 2020 he will almost be 37, so while he’s not completely out of the equation, there is a chance that he might not be around for the tournament.
Harbhajan Singh
The ‘Turbanator’ did not play a single game in the World T20. But he’s still part of the team’s scheme of things in this format. However, age is not his side as he will be close to 40 when the next edition takes place.
