PTI to take up Panama Leaks in Parliament

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided Tuesday to take the Panama Leaks issue to the parliament, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

While speaking to media after PTI’s Executive Committee meeting today, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Chairman Imran Khan would take a lead and represent the sentiments of nation on this sensitive issue.

Khan will attend the upcoming session of National Assembly on April 7 and present his party’s stance on Panama leaks.

He said that PTI would also file an adjournment motion in the National Assembly.

“As it is a very technical issue, PTI has decided to set up a committee of experts to study the legality of offshore wealth and holdings. The committee will then submit its recommendations to senior leadership,” he said.

PTI would chalk out its future strategy in the light of those recommendations, he said.

Referring to the formation of a two-member judicial panel to investigate Panama leaks in India, PTI demanded that Pakistan should follow suit.

“If India can form a judicial panel on Panama leaks, why can’t Pakistan hold an inquiry into Panama papers,” he questioned.

He noted that protests broke out in many countries over leaks and there were calls for the leaders to quit.

“If government is hesitant in ordering an inquiry, Supreme Court must step in and take a suo motto notice,” he demanded
