LAHORE: The terror struck Lahore responded to the menace in it’s own way. The cultural hub created a beauty not just in the manner of reaction but a visual beauty as well in response to the terror attack.
Educationist and Artist Shehzil Malik took the initiative to paint a wall of Gulshan e Iqbal Park incepting the Wall of Tolerance in Pakistan.
Malik gathered a team of artists including a German artist Max Krueger to paint a message of love and tolerance on the wall. She posted the pictures with a simple message, “Little things we do to make our city a little brighter, a little more about love and a lot less about hate.
When tragedy strikes, we are dumbfounded about what to do next. This is just our way of processing it and hoping that it helps others process it with us.”
Malik’s efforts was also supported by Indian artist Shilo Suleman. Malik believes that, “The design is meant to be a message of love, new beginnings and flowering hope.
The patterns at the back are those I see in our buildings, in our places of worship, our cultural landmarks, and our houses across the country. We are capable of such love and beauty, and I hope this helps us remember this.”
Blast at Gulshan e Iqbal Park claimed over 72 lives and left hundreds injured and some crippled for life. Lahore is still submerged in the after effects of the tragedy with hospitals still laden with victims and their families. Pakistan has come together to help Lahore in this moment with missions and groups supporting victims and especially children with blood donations, toys, monetary support and moral support.
