Sethi responsible for team’s poor performance: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan criticised Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Chairman Executive Board Najam Sethi and said heis responsible for the team’s poor performance in recent tournaments.

He was addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Friday.

Criticising PCB’s Chairman Executive Board, Khan said that Najam Sethi is responsible for the team’s poor performance adding that rest of the board members will resign but Sethi will not.

He mocked him by stating that he made the PM win the election of 2013 after a lot of toiling and also went on to say that PM Nawaz and Najam Sethi should be the opening pair of the Pakistani side.

He added that the PM and Sethi should be given with the ‘Men of the series’ award over their performance in the recent World T20 2016.

During the presser, PTI chief discussed about the internal democracy of his party and said that only through inter-party elections Tehreek-e-Insaf can become an institution.

He said that the party has learnt from its mistakes and in order to avoid being divided, a penal system was not formed. He said that Justice Wajihuddin dissolved the elections after hearing five to six petitions.

While referring to his party’s previous Chief Election Commissioner, Tasneem Noorani, Khan said that Noorani favoured the idea of votes being casted through cell phone as opposed to the conventional method of using a voting paper. He added that it is not possible to conduct such massive elections on mobile phones as there will be technical glitches in the process.

He said that the party formed a new Election Commission under the leadership of Noorani and were of the view that Noorani’s only task is to conduct elections within the party but now the party is aiming for direct elections. He said that the Election Commission also directed towards the election of a council as well.
