Egyptian airline plane hijacked: route changed

CAIRO: Egyptian airline plane has been hijacked on way to Cairo and is now on route to Cyprus in Turkey.

Plane is carrying over 55 passengers and flew from Alexandria to Cairo and changed route to Cyprus. Plane has now landed in Cyprus and so far one hijacker has been reported on the plane.

Egyptian media is reporting that the hijacker is carrying a bomb. Airbus A320 is a local flight on MS 181, that is scheduled on Alexandria to Cairo route.

Plane has landed on Larnaka airport in Cyprus, Turkey. Reported 55 people on the plane include 7 crew members.

Hijacker has ordered women and children to leave the plane however he is keeping male passengers and crew hostage at the moment.

Hijacker also released Egyptian passengers and is now keeping 10 American and 8 British passengers on the plane.
