Here are the Easter Traditions explained

Easter is a deeply religious holiday for Christians as it is the commemoration of Jesus according to their beliefs. There are certain traditions observed on this day.

But apart from that, Easter has become a commercial event, the day full of chocolates. On this day, there is Easter Bunny dropping decorated ‘Easter’ Baskets and colorful eggs. Also it is one of the major candy festivals in world. But obviously, Bible did not provide for all this so where did these traditions come from?

Some claim that Bunny is an ancient symbol of fertility and new life. This is why it holds significance for the day.

Now what about the dyed Easter eggs? They have a more deep religious connection. One tradition relates to Mary Magdalene, being the first person to see Jesus after the Resurrection held the plain egg in the presence of an emperor and proclaimed the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The emperor said that Jesus’ rising from the dead was as likely as that egg turning red and the egg turned bright red while he was still speaking.

In addition, for the 40 days leading up to Easter, known as Lent, Christians begin preparing for the holiday by praying, meditating, and making personal sacrifices.

From where come the chocolates? The tradition of chocolate eggs began in 19th-century France and Germany and soon spread to the rest of Europe and eventually the United States.

Mainly this event marks the importance and reasoning of life and death but because of the difficulty of sharing it in age-appropriate way, people divert to the more lightened symbols of eggs and rabbits.
