LAHORE- Today is World Tuberculosis (TB) Day. Here are a few facts regarding the alarming situation of TB in Pakistan.
But first, let’s have an introduction of the World TB Day. This day is designed to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis (TB) and efforts to eliminate the disease. In 2012, 8.6 million people fell ill with TB, and 1.3 million died from the disease, mostly in the Third World.
Pakistan comes at 5th number in regards with this ailment, TB. The death toll due to TB is 5%. This vicious disease has attacked more than 9 lac Pakistanis and death rate is 5%.
There are 22 countries victim of TB in which Pakistan is at 5th rank. And every year there are 3 lac new patients of TB according to the record.
Doctors proclaim that precautionary measures and timely treatment can save the person from this deadly disease.
There are more than 1200 centers for the diagnosis of TB but due to lack of proper awareness several patients cannot be diagnosed on time.
