Govt removed Musharraf’s name from ECL on orders of SC: Chaudhry Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister of Pakistan Chaudhry Nisar on Sunday said that government removed the name of former President of Pervez Musharraf’s name from Exit Control List (ECL), TheNewsTribe.com reported.

Federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali issued statement over the stance of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) regarding Musharraf issue.

He said that PPP failed to launch case against Former President of Pakistan, General (rtd) during their tenure. “PPP government failed to put Musharraf’s name in ECL and traveled abroad several times during PPP tenure,” he said.

Earlier, the workers of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against the departure of the former military dictator Pervez Musharraf from the country.

Led by PPP district head Shamsher Ali advocate, the protesters gathered outside the Swat Press Club to vent anger at the federal government for allowing All Pakistan Muslim League head Pervez Musharraf to leave the country.

Addressing the protesters, the speakers accused Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government of signing a deal with the former military dictator. They said that Pervez Musharraf had violated the constitution and there were several cases pending against him, but he fled the country on the pretext of getting medical treatment to avoid facing prosecution.
