Things you should never do while wearing contact lens

Experts claim that many of the eye infections arise out of contact lenses. That does not mean you should abandon wearing them but you should be mindful while wearing contact lens. Here are a few things you should abstain from while wearing lens,

Shower or swim in contact lens

The Huffington Post reports that because “tap water isn’t salty like tears,” the contact lenses will absorb the water they come in contact with and tighten to your eye. This is an issue because tap water isn’t sterile. In turn, this increases the risk of infection.

Use the same lens case for a long time

Contact lens cases have a shelf life, they can live up to three months.

Leave same solution in lens case

Using the same solution in your lens case is one of the fastest routes to infection, according to The Huffington Post. I once had to stop wearing contacts for three weeks because of an infection due to this lazy error.

Put makeup before putting on lens

Makeup is more likely to get on your contacts this way. On top of that, according to Huffington Post, waterproof makeup will bind to the lenses, so avoid that when wearing contacts if you can.

Sleep in contact lens

Your lens will get completely struck by doing so. Though re-wetting drops can undo that but your eye will be light-sensitive.

Wear them too much

Glasses help rest your eyes while contact lenses strain them. Furthermore, the best way to avoid infection is wearing glasses. So, you should restrict your time wearing contacts to 12-14 hours a day.
