ISLAMABAD: Researchers from Earth System Research Laboratory have been monitoring atmospheric Carbon Dioxide levels at their Mauna Loa facility since 1965 and this year they have observed the all time highest annual rise in CO2 this year.
This is the second time when the 12 month atmospheric CO2 emission level has risen to a staggering high over 3 parts per million, in September 1998 when a 3.70 ppm level growth was observed in 12 months. This time scientist observed a 3.76 ppm growth from February 2015.
These high increase in the global atmospheric in the global carbon dioxide level growth is owed to the El Nino phenomenon causing the CO2 levels to shoot up through increased wildfires at humid and warm locations. CO2 levels are directly linked with global warming and higher levels mean a warmer planet Earth.
