WT20 qualifiers: Oman stun Ireland to register first WT20 win

DHARAMSALA: Minion Oman stunned King of Associates Ireland with a 2-wicket win in the fourth qualifier of ICC World Twenty20 at Himachal pardesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.

Munis Ansari grabbed three wickets while Aamir Kaleem and Khawar Ali shared a wicket each for Oman.

Oman chased down the target on the penultimate delivery of last over scoring 156 for 8 wickets.

Openers Zeeshan Maqsood made 38 and his opeing partner Khawar Ali scored 34 to give the Gulf state a great start. Aamer Ali with 32 and Jatinder Singh 24 helped them cross the line in a nail-biting finish to the encounter.

Kevin Oā€™Brien, McBrine and Max Sorensen grabbed two wickets each while Rankin took one for Ireland.

Oman will play the Netherlands next on Friday and then complete their group engagements against Bangladesh on Sunday.
