Asia Cup 2016: India vs Bangladesh – Rain has finally stopped

DHAKA:  The rain has finally stopped and the groundstaff are getting to work and trying make the outfield of  Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Dhaka safe to play final of Asia Cup 2016, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

The drainage at the Shere Bangla is incredible. Not long ago there were streams on the outfield. Heavy rain and wind had ravaged the ground. The floodlights had gone. Well, the lights are back, the groundstaff are doing their thing, and so is the drainage. Most of the water has disappeared and we might not lose many overs, if at all.

“The square and the bowlers’ run-ups look quite good considering the damage they took for so long,” says Alagappan Muthu from the ground.

“The Bangladesh players are taking a few ginger steps where the covers are still on – cow corner with a right-hand batsman facing from the press box end. If that part of the ground doesn’t offer too much bother, we might actually get pretty close to a full game.”

In case of cancellation, Bangladesh and India will be the combine champions of first ever T20 Asia Cup 2016.

India remained unbeaten in the tournament so far, proving their deservedness for the spot in final, there Bangla tigers too have proved their worth in the arena, beating two former World T20 and Asia Cup winners in their run.

Bangladesh, who stunned India in bi-lateral series last year at home, will look to come up with a similar result, this time in the shortest format.

Men in Blue on the other hand, would be looking to win their third consecutive T20I series under MS Dhoni.
