Police torture on media worker in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Another media worker became a victim of Police Gardi on Wednesday when he was going to office at G13, Islamabad, TheNewsTribe.com reported. 

Police have revitalized the concept of police brutality, setting another example by beating media worker in G13 sector of Islamabad.

According to victim of latest police torture, Khalid* told that he was traveling to office on bike when couple of police personnel came from back and stopped him and brutally slapped.

“I told them that I am working in media organisation and showed my identity but they used abusive language pushed me back and hit me again,” he told.

He further said that police personnel claimed that they called him to stop. Khalid revealed that they made fun of him during conversation and also threatened to send him behind bars.

As per available information, police personnel were belonged to Golra Sharif police station.

This no the first time that media persons became the victim of police torture,  on June 24 2014, Police used baton charge and severely tortured  journalists outside the PEMRA.

On August 31, the unbridled police personnel in Islamabad thrashed media workers of ARY News, News One, AbbTakk News, Dunya TV, Dawan News, Jaag TV and SAMAA TV, for courageously unmasking the hooliganism of riot police. Police badly smashed the cameras and DSNGs of several channels.

Another incident occurred on April 12 2015, Muhammad Bilal Yamin is a journalist and was picked up by police on ‘alleged’ involvement in robberies and kidnapping and police failed to prove the allegations imposed on him.

 The medical board consisting of four doctors in its report has unanimously said that Muhammad Bilal Yamin was tortured, as many as twelve cigarette burns were found on his chest and lower back. Two severe bruises were also found on his foot however X-rays showed no sign of a fracture.

The medical board has concluded in its report with the statement that ‘The medical board is of of the unanimous opinion that injury is caused by blunt weapon

May 24 2015, police commandos brutally beat the workers of media organisation out side the Sindh High Court (SHC).
