COAS attends funeral prayers of Shawal martyrs

PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif, Sunday attended funeral prayers of army men who were martyred in Saturday’s clash with terrorists in North Waziristan.

In the intense crossfire with the security forces near Shawal valley of North Waziristan, at least 19 terrorists were killed and several others injured.

The fight near Afghan border left four military personnel, including a senior officer Captain Umair, martyred.

According to ISPR, the army chief and a large number of officers attended funeral prayers of the martyred in Peshawar. He later visited CMH to see the injured soldiers.

“They got martyred but didn’t allow terrorists escape from Shawal. We are determined to finish all terrorists from their pockets and every nook and corner in country,” the army chief said, according to ISPR.
