Police use tear gas, baton charge, water canon to disperse protesting PIA empolyees

KARACHI: Police used tear gas, baton charge and water canon to disperse the protesting employees of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) in Karachi outside theĀ  Jinnah International Airport terminal on Tuesday in Karachi, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

A heavy contingent of police deputed at the Jinnah International Airport terminal to stop the protesters but police failed to disperse the protesters so far.

According to details, at least five people were injured during protest including three women.

On the other hand,Ā Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid saidĀ ā€œany employee taking part in the strike will lose his job as we have arranged alternate staff and pilots to run the airline.ā€

The strike will only damage the institution and the country, he added.

Rashid said the airline was suffering from a Rs30 billion deficit, adding, ā€œwe are trying to find the right investors for the airline.ā€
