AUCKLAND: Rain halted play in the third and final clash between Pakistan and New Zealand and it will be a huge disaster for Green Shirts if rain did not stop at Eden Park, Aukland on Sunday.
New Zealand will win the contest by 8 runs if match failed to resume.
New Zealand were 210 for five when umpires stopped play due to rain.
Kiwis at one moment 165-1 and it seemed like New Zealand will won the contest quite easily but late charge from Pakistan had put them a bit on back foot and now match is much balanced.
Pakistan need a must victory to save the series otherwise Kiwis will lift the cup.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first and put 290 runs on the board courtesy to Mohammad Hafeez and Babar Azam’s 76 and 83 runs respectively.
Pakistan was going very smoothly when Hafeez and Babar were on the crease but then sudden fall of wickets put visitors on back foot and they were only restricted to 290 in 48th over.
Kiwis pacer Adam Milne took three wickets while Trent Boult and Henry grabbed two wickets each.
At the moment NZ are 210-5 in 35 overs.
