KARACHI: Officials at National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have held successful elected Chairman’s Smart National Identification Card after denouncing his deceased father Muhammad Rafiq Khan “unmarried” 10 years after his death. Whereas, according to Habib Khan agents at NADRA Office are asking for hefty bribe to “help” him acquire a clearance.
Habib Khan, Chairman, UC 14, is an elected representative from Mutahidda Qaumi Movement and bears the National Identification Card (No. 42201- 9230756-3). He applied for his Smart N.I.C on 13th October 2015 at Shahra-e-Quaideen Registration Center after his NIC reached expiry date, however he was slapped with a ridiculous objection.
Habib Khan produced a copy of his Passport and Form “B” through which Rafiq Khan (NIC No. 42201-7055874-9) registered his family including his wife Akhtari Begum and seven children, to clear the objection. However, he was unable to produced a copy of Nikkah Nama on the grounds that his parents were married in Illahabad, India and migrated to Pakistan.
Assistant Director, NRC, Mahwish Jaffry sought clearance on the matter on 27th October however the issue has not been resolved. Habib Khan stated that NADRA employees have been prolonging the matter for no valid reason, he and his siblings have already been issued National Identification Cards. Whereas, agents at the registration office have been offering him “help” against a hefty sum.
Habib Khan said that he is an elected representative yet the way NADRA Officials have been giving him tough time over a non-existent issues clearly demonstrate the problems common people face everyday.
He also requested Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan to take strict action against the officials responsible for this ridiculous objection and the agent mafia working at NADRA offices.
