MATIARI: Voting is underway for by-elections in National Assembly constituency NA-218 Matiari, District of Sindh, Pakistan on Monday, TheNewsTribe.com reported.
The seat fell vacant after the demise of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
The polling begun at 8:00 am and will continue till 5:00 without any break.
The registered male voters in the constituency are 160,496 and female 142,248.
In the constituency, 263 polling stations have been established of which 60 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive and 100 polling stations are sensitive.
Six candidates are contesting for the seat, Late Makhdoom Amin Fahim’s brother is contesting in by-polls on Pakistan peoples Party (PPP) ticket.
Regional Election Commissioner Hyderabad Ijaz Anwar Chauhan has told that all arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair and transparent polls.
He said around 2,400 security personnel have been deployed to ensure holding of free and fair elections
