JAKARTA: At least 6 people have been killed on Thursday in many blasts in Jakarta, Indonesia, TheNewsTribe.com learnt from International media.

The explosions happened outside the Sarinah shopping centre, close to the presidential palace and UN offices, say reports.

A UN official said on Twitter there had been six separate blasts and a “serious exchange of fire”.

Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies rushed to the blast site immediately. The area was cordoned off and nobody was allowed to enter.

“Around a dozen attackers riding motorcycles three hand grenades on the sites and later exchanged gunfire with police officials present on different location,” one of the policemen quoted.

There are no claims of responsibility of explosions immediately however officials said that they had received an IS threat in December.
