Fan saves Afridi from embarrassment at Auckland airport

AUCKLAND: Pakistan T20 skipper Shahid Afridi and opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad were saved from sheer embarrassment at McDonald restaurant hotel inside the Auckland Airport.

He came to the restaurant and after ordering his food, realised he was not carrying local currency to pay for his meal.

He was clueless of what-to-do-now when a fan Waqas Naveed paid Afridi’s bill.

Afridi thanked him for the favour and promised to return his money but Waqas refused with a smile.

“I did it just to welcome these guys [the Pakistan team],” Waqas told ONE News.

“Every Pakistani is a big cricket fan and it’s great to see our local stars here in Auckland,” he added.
