NZ beats SL by 9 wickets in 2nd T20

AUCKLAND: New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the second Twenty20 in Auckland on Sunday to sweep the series 2-0,TheNewsTribe.com learnt from international media.

New Zealand chased down Sri Lankan 142 runs in just 10 overs and gave a clear message to Pakistan, whom they will play from January 15, that they are not an easy opponent.

New Zealand after winning the toss chose to field first and this decision was proved right as they restricted Lankan tigers to just 142 in quota 20 overs.

In Sri Lanka’s innings, Angelo Mathews was not out 81 while Grant Elliott took four for 22 for New Zealand.

Martin Guptill made 63 off 25 balls and Colin Munro was not out 50 off 14 deliveries as the hosts raced to 147 for 1.

New Zealand completed a clean sweep of the tour by Sri Lanka winning the Tests 2-0, the one-day internationals 3-1 and the Twenty20s 2-0.
