WELLINGTON: Aggressive opner of Sri Lankan team Tillakaratne Dilshan broke the record of legendary cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya.

Dilshan broke the record of Sanath Jayasuria as he scored highest runs in calendar-year as opener. Dilshan surpasses the Jayasuriya during third One Day International (ODI) match against New Zealand.

He played the inning of 91 runs became highest runs scorer in calendar-year as opener. Left-handed batsman had scored 1202 runs in 2001 while Dilshan managed to put 1207 runs in career record and surpassed the former captain of Sri lankan team.
