NEW DELHI: Former Indian opening batsman Virendar Sehwag has revealed that his partner and world’s highest run scorer Sachin Tendulkar had threatened him to beat with bat when he scored a triple century against Pakistan in Multan.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sehwag revealed how the batting maestro threatened to hit him with the bat while asking him to stop focusing on hitting sixes during his epic triple ton at Multan.
He went on saying that “In Multan, me and Sachin had a big partnership. After my fourth six, Tendulkar came to me and said, ‘Mai tere ko bat se maarunga agar tune fir six maar toh.’ I was batting on 100-odd then, and till 295, I didn’t hit a six. When I reached 295, I told Sachin, ‘agar Saqlain ayega toh main chhakka maarunga’. Saqlain came and I hit a six to get to the triple hundred.
It is to be kept in mind that Sehwag has recently announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year in October, weeks after which he opened the innings with Tendulkar in Cricket All-Stars League and entertained thousands of fans in the United States.
