RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif will visit Afghanistan in the last week of December for talks with the Afghan government.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Raheel Sharif will pay visit to Afghanistan on December 27.

COAS was initially expected to visit Kabul before the Heart of Asia meeting in Islamabad on Dec 9, but tensions in the relationship prevented the visit from taking place.

During Heart of Asia conference, President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, both leaders agreed to end blame game and vowed to restart reconciliation process.

Army chief will visit Afghanistan just after the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Afghanistan. Afghani president welcomed the Indian PM on December 25 (today).

Indian PM hinted to provide opportunity to the youth of Afghanistan in filed of Information Technology (IT). “I am confident that hope will return to your homes, laughter in your schools, life in your streets prosperity in your cities,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tells Afghan lawmakers.

“Every youth in Afghanistan should see a future in which IT stands for information technology, not international terrorism,” he added.
