DUBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) named Australian Test captain Steven Smith as ICC Test cricketer of the year on Wednesday.
Steven Smith won Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy and also named as the year’s best Test player, while South Africa ODI captain AB de Villiers was named 2015’s one-day international player of the year.
Smith scored 1,270 runs at 63.50 in 2015 and took over the national team captaincy after Michael Clarke’s retirement during the Ashes.
While captain of Australian women team, Meg Lanning, was named the year’s best one-day international player in the women’s game.
Australia’s paceman Josh Hazlewood was adjudged the Emerging Player of the Year.
Star cricketer Brendon McCullum won ICC Spirit of Cricket Award.
