SYDNEY: Australian Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has confirmed that family of a Hassan Asif got visas after they were initially denied, TheNewsTribe.com learnt from international media.

According to Melbourne-based end-of-life care providers, Pakistani student has only weeks to live, but his mother and brother were initially denied visas to visit him.

Dutton confirmed the visas have now been approved. In an earlier press conference, he said the decision maker in charge of the initial application made the right decision on the initial information provided.

He said the person responsible for the initial application had to consider whether or not somebody coming to Australia was likely to make a claim for protection, or stay in Australia.

Asif went to Australia on a student visa in 2104, before being diagnosed with advanced skin cancer in April this year. The cancer progressed into terminal stage last month.

Asif himself has appealed to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to allow his mother and brother to travel to Australia to be by his side.
