PCB decides to quit chasing Indo-Pak series

PCB-Shaharyar-Khan

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is finally decided to give upĀ on Indo-Pak cricket series issue after failing to get response from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) side.

The Board members have collectively decided to announce its decision in coming days.

India has maintained a quite confused stance since past weeks when it comes to cricket series with Pakistan.

PCB chairman Shahryar Khan said that we are giving up the series matter but the Indian response has disappointed cricket lovers. He said that the issue will be raised at International Cricket Council (ICC) forum.

ā€œYes, we havenā€™t received a reply from the BCCI till Saturday evening, therefore, we are closing this chapter now. We will, however, make an announcement in this regard by Monday,ā€ Shaharyar said.

Shaharyar said the PCB had given maximum time to the BCCI for taking a decision but no positive intentions were received by the Indian authorities.

Earlier, BCCI chief Shashank Manohar once again asked PCB chief Shahryar Khan to wait for another three to four days for the final decision on Indo-Pak cricket series.

According to sources, the PCB chief approached BCCI for a final response over much talked series between the neighbors. Shahryar Khan said that Indian authorities also need permission from their government due to which they are delaying the series.

PCB had hoped Sushma Swarajā€™s visit to Pakistan for the Heart of Asia regional conference Tuesday and Wednesday would open the way for a limited short over series, agreed between the PCB and the Indian cricket board and due to be played in Sri Lanka.

The conference saw a joint declaration between India and Pakistan to combine efforts to weed-out terrorism but cricket series was mentioned nowhere.
