India apologises over Wagah border jeep crash incident

LAHORE: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has tendered a written apology over incident of a jeep crash with Wagah border gate last month.

The incident occurred on November 16 when an Indian citizen, identified as Sukhwant Singh, breached security on Indian side of the border, crashing a check post and reached zero point of the border.

The out-of-control vehicle stopped after hitting Pakistani side of the Wagah border gate.

Following the incident, Pakistani authorities wrote a letter to BSF seeking an inquiry into the breach of security. In response to the letter, the BSF on Thursday tendered apology and said a colonel has been sacked over negligence.
