ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday morning remanded three suspects in Dr. Imran Farooq murder case in custody of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), for seven days, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

According to our correspondent, the suspects – Moazzam Ali Khan, Khalid Shamim and Syed Mohsin Ali – were produced amid tight security before ATC judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi.

During the hearing, FIA prosecutor Shehzad Zafar sought 10-day physical remand of the suspects for further investigation; however, after hearing arguments, the judge granted FIA 7-day physical remand of the suspects in the high-profile case.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has announced formation of a new Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the case.

On Sunday, a local court approved transitional remand of the accused, a day after Counter-Terrorism Wing (CTW) of FIA registered Dr. Imran Farooq case against MQM chief Altaf Husssain and six others – Muhammad Anwar, Iftikhar Hussain, Kashif Khan, Moazzam Ali Khan, Khalid Shamim and Syed Mohsin Ali.

Farooq, a founding member of the party, was killed in September 2010 in London.

Imran Farooq was beaten and stabbed to death in London and the British investigators have so far been unable to frame charges against any suspects in any court of law.
