ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistan finally broke silence over sensitive issue as statement issued on Thursday from Prime Minister House ruled out the news regarding secret meeting between Premier Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counter part Narendra Modi.   

Spokesman of Government of Pakistan said that no such meeting took place between the two leaders on the sidelines of SAARC Summit in 2014.

Indian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup also denied the reports, saying, “The report is completely baseless. No such meeting took place in Kathmandu during the Saarc summit.”

Earlier, Indian TV journalist Barkha Dut claimed that Prime Minsiter of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi met in  secret meeting on the sidelines of the SAARC summit in Kathmandu lat year.

According to Hindustan Times, Modi, Nawaz Sharif held an hour-long secret meeting on the sidelines of the SAARC summit in 2014.

The paper claimed that “both the leaders shared their constraints while agreeing they needed more time and greater political space to move forward with public engagements.”

These revelations were made by TV journalist Barkha Dutt in her debut book, This Unquiet Land — Stories from India’s Fault Lines.
